Canton Michigan has been identified as one of the safest cities in the United States….An independent for-profit company has issued it’s 2007 safest communities list for the United States. Canton MI is the 24th safest community in the United States, just two positions behind Troy. Other Michigan communities in the top 50 include Farmington Hills, Sterling Heights, Ann Arbor and Livonia. The company utilizes F.B.I. crime statistics to determine its rankings. Over the years, Canton has been in the top 50 on numerous occasions. Creating and maintaining a safe community is a tribute to the staff of Canton’s Police Department and the involvement of Canton residents engaging in crime prevention behaviors.
