You’re not stupid
I am going to write this quite a bit in the next few months. I got a call from a sweet older lady. She bought a new home about 7 years ago. She is upside down. Her home isn’t worth what she owes on it. It wasn’t supposed to turn out this way. She said to me ” How could I have been so stupid!”
I had to reply right away ” you are not stupid! The smartest people in this country did not see this coming. Economists, Realtors, builders, financial planners, politicians never saw this coming.” Sure some of us saw a slowdown, but nobody imagined this. It is a perfect storm of financial calamity. Home prices have not dropped in price like this since the Depression. We are experiencing a home price drop that most people have never seen.
So how could you know. YOU ARE NOT STUPID! You are a good person that just got caught up in this economic downturn. Millions of people across the US are in the same boat. So my advice to you is the same advice I have been giving for the last year and a half.
