Why we can’t say certain things
In real estate we are governed by many laws. The Fair Housing Act, the Equal Opportunity Act and many other laws.
Metro Detroit real estate
You see
- we can’t “steer” you to Canton or Novi because somebody or I believe it is a better neighborhood or city. We can guide you to websites that give crime statistics or school rating so you can determine which is a “better” area or city.
- we can’t respond to ethnic charged statements like “how many Asians live in this neighborhood” or “is this “neighborhood primarily white”. A real estate agent that make statements like that or that responds to questions like that can get fined. It is illegal to do it.
- we as real estate agents can’t take you to one city or other because your have “like people in that city” Sure Ann Arbor and Novi have large demographics of Asians. Dearborn has a large population of Muslim and Arabic descent. There are certain cities that have large populations of certain nationalities but as Metro Detroit real estate agents I can’t take you or steer you towards those cities because you belong, or have similar skin color, religion, or ethnicity. I mean because I think so, if you request to see those cities that is fine. I have to show houses to you regardless of where some people would stereotype you as. If I show a white person $200,000 colonial homes in Canton, Plymouth, and Livonia then I must show any other person those same homes whether they are of Indian, Arabic, African, or Asian descent. What I mean a real estate agent can’t take a black person to Belleville or Southfield instead of showing them those same Canton, Plymouth, and Livonia homes. As a agent I concentrate more in a few different cities but I have to treat all races, religions, nationalities equally. We can’t stereotype people.
As a Metro Detroit real estate agentwe must treat everybody equally. We can’t steer or discriminate toward any one city or away from any one city. So where ever you are looking at homes give me a call. In the last few months I have sold houses in Royal Oak, Ypsilanti, Detroit, Livonia, Northville, Brighton, and Westland. Just to name a few cities. I go wherever and for what ever price of home.
Quite honestly I have found that many people believe that “their city” is the best. I laugh because my wife thought Allen Park was not as good as Dearborn because she grew up in Dearborn. Some Allen Parkers think Allen Park is better than Southgate. If you live in Plymouth you think Plymouth is the best, where Northville residents think Northville is much nicer that Plymouth. And of course West Bloomfield residents think West Bloomfield is the place to be. So I think it up to you to research and check out the cities on line to find where you feel at home. What Metro Detroit city is best for you?

Promise Yourself:
To be so strong that nothing can disturb your peace of mind.
To talk health, happiness, and prosperity to every person you meet.
To make all your friends feel that there is something in them
To look at the sunny side of everything and make your optimism come true.
To think only the best, to work only for the best, and to expect only the best.
To be just as enthusiastic about the success of others as you are about your own.
To forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future.
To wear a cheerful countenance at all times and give every living creature you meet a smile.
To give so much time to the improvement of yourself that you have no time to criticize others.
To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear, and too happy to permit the presence of trouble.
To think well of yourself and to proclaim this fact to the world, not in loud words but great deeds.
To live in faith that the whole world is on your side so long as you are true to the best that is in you.
