It is the same way with some North South Roads. Inkster Rd , Middlebelt Rd , Merriman Rd/Orchard Lake Rd , and Haggerty run for 10 to 15 miles north and south. So if one road is blocked, slow because of an accident, or has construction you can go down a different road. Livonia also has two major expressways I-275 and I – 96 that cut through the city. I-275 connects the western suburbs to I-94 on the south and I -696 to the north. I-96 will take you into downtown Detroit and also changes into M-14 for a fast expressway ride to Ann Arbor Rd.
