Home Seller’s tips – How to negotiate
Selling a home sometimes requires a lot of negotiation. Here is a home negotiation situation that came up recently. The buyers had very limited funds, and the seller already reduced the sales price to help with the closing costs for the buyer. Then came the home inspection. The furnace and the hot water heater were bad. The seller did not want to give up more money. They wanted to fix the problem and put the home back on the market for more money, or to have the buyer to pay for some of the repairs. The buyer had no cash. So what the buyer and seller worked out was that the seller would pay for the installation, and the buyer would reduce the amount of seller’s concessions that the seller would have to give them. The buyer would then borrow the extra money they needed for closing from their parents. Sometimes it takes some creative financing and negotiations to keep a deal together. That is my job if my buyer really wants the house or my seller really wants to close the deal. Keeping the deal together until closing and making the buyer and seller both happy is what we try for.
