| So now I have called you and told you we have a clear to close. As you know clear to close means that the mortgage company is ready to close and send out the closing documents to the title company. So I will be arranging a time convenient to you the seller and the buyer to close on your home. So what else should you be doing? You need to call the utilities companies (gas and electric) to transfer utilities. Please do not cancel them. If you cancel the utilities, and shut them off prior to the buyer moving in then they will have to wait for the utility company to show up to turn the gas on. That will waste a day for them. So be a nice seller and when you call say “transfer” and not “shut off”. Be sure to call your cable company and let them know too. You most likely will have to bring the equipment back to them.
