As a Michigan Realtor and Metro Detroit Mortgage loan officer I am affected everyday by the economy. I am doing well but I am affected by the people I talk to. Friends, family, and people who read my blogs call me to ask advice about their housing issues. There hasn’t been a day in the last six months that I haven’t talked to somebody about:
- not being able to refinance
- the foreclosure options
- their options whether it is foreclosure, short sale, or refinancing
- where the housing market is headed
- whether it is a good time to buy
I have so many friends that are in the construction industry. I used to be a landscaper back in the late 1980’s and early 1990’s so I knew carpenters, plumbers, electricians, and builders. We referred business to each other all the time. Now I have become a consular on how to survive, or how to make the best out of a foreclosure. How to prepare for foreclosure, and how to re build your credit and credit scores are topics that I am stressing to many of these good people.
Many of these guys are hard workers, made good decisions but yet the economy has done them in. I want them to get back on their feet as soon as possible if they do go into foreclosure and hit rock bottom.
There are days when I am so depressed because I have talked to a good friend that is in trouble. I want to give them a solution, an answer to their problems. But many times I can not. It is hard when you can’t help people get out of the situation they are in. Banks are not making any exceptions. All the banks see is black and white. If you don’t fit their guidelines you are not getting a loan no matter how good your credit or credit scores are.
Then all the stories and politics about foreclosure help is just politicians talking. Most of the people that have called the banks have gotten nothing but the run around. Nothing has changed in Washington they are still giving money to the rich banks and forgeting about the little guy who is hurting. It is sad.
I almost feel guilty because I am selling houses. So many good people, so many hard workers, so many smart business men are hurting because of the economy. I hope the economy turns soon to help my friends and all the people that need it.

Most of the important things in the world have been accomplished by people who have kept on trying when there seemed to be no hope at all.
