Ahhh The smell of barbecue – home selling tips
At a past family function one of my sister-in-laws shared that when my brother-in-law smelled of barbecueit turned her on. Not that I needed to know that but, odors and smells have the ability to turn people on or turn them off. It is the same way with your house. Your home may have an odor you do not realize. You live in your home and you may have become accustomed to the smell. Ask a friend to “smell” your house.
Mildew smells, pet smells, smoking smells will turn off buyers right away. I have taken families throughhomes and even the little kids will sometimes remark….”what’s that smell“. If buyers are trying to figure out what your home smells like they are not
concentrating on what your house looks like.
You want the buyer to identify with your house. If your house smells of pet urine, or the fish you cooked last night then it is not a good thing. Odors will chase out home buyers quicker than you will realize. If you have questions about selling your Metro Detroit home give me a call or email me at yesmyrealtor@gmail.com
