before we talk about Brighton and Brighton Twp foreclosures. Brighton and Brighton Twp are located in Livingston County which is about 35 -45 Minutes from downtown Detroit and roughly an hour to Michigan’s capital, Lansing.
Brighton is not a big town but more of a country town. Most of the surrounding area is semi rural but Brighton has many of the big stores that people flock to shop at. There is Home Depot and Meijers and McDonalds. There is just about any kind of restaurant you would want to eat at in Brighton MI from Mexican to Italian.
Brighton has a population of 6701, has 50 lakes and a state recreation area that has over 5000 acres of lakes, woods, and meadows.
Brighton Twp is an autonomous area with a different city government though many people talk of Brighton and Brighton Twp as the same. However Brighton Township Mi has the lowest Michigan property taxes in Livingston County. In fact it may just have the lowest millage rate in all of Metro Detroit.
Brighton Township covers 34.6 miles and has a population of 17,673 as of 2000. The township has grown since then because there has been many single family residences built since then. Like most of Metro Detroit we had a building boom until 2008 and then it came to a screeching halt. There are still a few new homes being built here and there.
